Reports To: Design Practice Lead

Type: Full-Time

About Us

We’re a modern software consulting company that partners with fortune 500 companies to solve complex business problems through thoughtful design, strategic thinking, and scalable technology. From healthcare to fintech and beyond, we work with forward-thinking companies building digital products that drive meaningful outcomes.

Design is at the core of everything we do—and we’re growing our team with leaders who are not only exceptional in craft but are also shaping what design means in the age of AI.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Principal Product Designer who can lead complex initiatives with clarity, precision, and impact. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping digital products from concept through execution, working alongside clients, engagement managers, engineers, and QA. As a design systems thinker and Figma expert, you’ll help us (and our clients) scale product design efficiently and beautifully.

This isn’t just a role about pixels—it’s about systems, vision, and the future of design. You use AI in your workflow not just as a tool, but as a strategic advantage. You design for scale, for edge cases, for accessibility, and for real users.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead product design engagements from discovery to delivery, creating intuitive, elegant, and scalable experiences.

  • Build and evolve design systems for both internal and client products establishing visual language, interaction patterns, and component libraries using modern Figma best practices (Auto Layout, Component Properties, Variables, Tokens).

  • Integrate AI tools into your design workflow to accelerate ideation, enhance prototyping, and future-proof the product experiences we create.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (engagement managers, engineers, , and stakeholders) to define problems, validate solutions, and deliver high-impact work.

  • Mentor designers and contribute to the evolution of our design practice, advocating for quality, consistency, and innovation.

  • Bring a strategic lens to design balancing user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.

  • Represent DeveloperTown at public events including conferences, panels, and webinars by speaking on topics related to product design, design systems, and the future of digital experiences.

  • Confidently represent DeveloperTown’s design practice in key sales meetings, contributing strategic insight and design expertise.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, including at least 2+ years in a senior or principal-level role.

  • A strong portfolio showcasing systems thinking, elegant UI/UX solutions, and real-world product impact.

  • Deep expertise in Figma, including mastery of Auto Layout, Component Properties, Variables, and Tokens.

  • Experience building and maintaining scalable design systems across multiple products or platforms.

  • Comfortable using AI design tools like CoPilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Relume, Github, UIZard or custom GPT’s in your daily workflow.

  • A user-centered mindset with the ability to translate complex problems into intuitive experiences.

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling abilities. You confidently articulate design decisions and the rationale behind them to diverse audiences.

  • Experience working in consulting, agency, or fast-paced product environments is a strong plus.

Bonus Points

  • Experience designing for regulated industries like healthcare or fintech.

  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks or handoff-friendly tools like Storybook.

  • Thought leadership, speaking, writing, or mentoring in the design community.

Why You’ll Love It Here

  • A collaborative and transparent culture where design has a seat at the table.

  • Opportunities to shape the future of our design practice—and the products we help build.

  • A team that embraces innovation, experimentation, and the power of good design.

  • Flexibility, autonomy, and the ability to work on meaningful projects across industries.
